The festival moved its first steps in Perugia on October 23rd 1994, on the inauguration day of the first edition. The founder Eugenio Guarducci imagined it twelve years earlier, during a visit at the Oktoberfest in Munich, and his dream became real.

The famous chocolate fair counts on the support of the Region Umbria, the Province of Perugia, the Municipality of Perugia, the Chamber of Commerce of Perugia, the ICCO (International Cocoa Organization) and Fairtrade Italia.

The very first editions of Eurochocolate were characterized by an event which is still unforgettable for many people, which taught a lot in the world of chocolate: Cioccolatomania. A guided tasting course, led by the most important national and international chocolate protagonists and young talents, which became stars later on. This year as well the meetings will take place for a maximum of 50 people, at the Centro Camerale G. Alessi, in via Mazzini 20, in the city center of Perugia.

Just like every year, Perugia will gather all the main chocolate production firms, to renew the will to tell and taste chocolate to all the enthusiasts through tasty-themed storytellings and full immersions.

The traditional appointment with the chocolate sculptures from Perugina won't miss either. This special event will take place in the classic placements, in Corso Vannucci, Piazza IV Novembre and Piazza Matteotti. How is it possible that four chocolate blocks of 11 quintals each can be transformed in fantastic and delicious pieces of art? To find it out, the appointment is with the spectacular live exhibitions of the chocolate sculptors. The streets of the city center will be a real art gallery, where the works will be realised and… tasted!

The House of Perugina Chocolate was inaugurated in 2007, and it is a unique place in the world where anyone can breathe chocolate emotions and live a trip in the excellence of the made in Italy chocolate. The route begins from the historical museum, arrives in the heart of the chocolate factory with the exquisite taste of the Perugina products, and ends with the lessons held by the Chocolate Masters. A fantastic tour on the tracks of an exciting story of a firm, and the discovery of the God's food, to discover its secrets and particularities.

Every glutton can't miss the chance to get the Chococard, the exclusive Eurochocolate service card which gives you special gifts and discounts during the event, both on the purchase of products on the stands of the Chocolate Show, and on hotels, restaurants, bars, museums and many other structures. Complementary with the Chococard are the official Eurochocolate gadgets.

The usual appointment with Eurochocolate World is back, the special section dedicated to cocoa producing countries, historically sponsored by ICCO, International Cocoa Organization and by Fairtrade Italy. An important opportunity to discover the culture and traditions of the nations involved, among which Cameroon, Côte d'Ivory, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic and Saõ Tomé e Príncipe, also through the consolidated International Summit, cocoa tastings and fun-educational activities for young and old people.

Meanwhile, with Equochocolate, Piazza Matteotti is transformed into a sales space dedicated to the fair trade chocolate for a conscious purchase in the name of a chocolate twice as good.

In addition, every day at the G. Alessi Service Center, Cooking Show in collaboration with Scuola di Peccati di Gola cuisine: many unmissable appointments dedicated to amateur pastry lovers, to learn how to make easy recipes with an irresistible taste under the guidance of experts confectioners and teachers.

Finally, the main attraction of the year will be on the stage of Piazza IV Novembre. A majestic 5-meters-long box of chocolates, containing 25 assorted delicacies made with white chocolate, milk, gianduia and dark chocolate. An original installation wanted for remember that Eurochocolate is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get!
